- Knowledge of etiology and treatment of mental illness, physical
and sexual abuse, suicide, human development and cultural
diversity.
- Ability to effectively and ethically counsel children,
families, and young adults.
- Ability to present professionally and work within a team format
to plan, implement, and evaluate successful interventions.
- Ability to effectively run and process groups with children,
families, and young adults.
- Ability to work to meet positive goals for children, youth, and
young adults, and interface with other agencies involved in the
ecology of the client or family. Job Summary
- Clinician is a split position providing therapy and related
services for the OnTrack TN - Knox County First Episode Psychosis
(FEP) program, as well as the children and youth outpatient
clinic.
- Holder of this position will spend 20 hours a week in each
position to complete the full 40-hour work week.
- Clinician provides weekly individual and family psycho-therapy
to children, youth, and young adults ages 2-30 with a mental health
diagnosis.
- Clinician will ensure compliance with productivity standards
set by the Coordinator/Director by scheduling determined number of
clients for weekly sessions, providing follow up phone calls when
clients cancel or miss scheduled appointments, and provide support
staff with information for appointment reminder calls.
- Clinician is to provide psycho-social assessments for clients
entering the McNabb Children and Youth Center and provides
diagnoses and appropriate referrals for clients assessed.
- Clinician will provide mental status assessments for
clients.
- Clinician will discuss options/goals for clients receiving
services.
- Clinician provides crisis intervention and emergency services
as needed.
- Clinician embraces the key values of clinical services:
empowerment, normalization, rehabilitation, and continuity of
care.
- Clinician adheres to McNabb Center policies and
procedures.
- Serves as the part time primary clinician that provides
individual, group, and family counseling as part of the First
Episode Psychosis/On Track TN model.
- Clinician provides services to adolescents and young adults
ages 15-30 with a mental health diagnosis that involves symptoms
evident of psychosis.
- Clinician will help clients clarify goals, cope with stressful
situations, interact more effectively with other people, and
generally to overcome barriers to client's recovery.
- The primary clinician will rotate in a 24 hour/7 day a week
on-call schedule.
- Treatment modalities used by Master's level clinicians
providing therapy services include Dialectical Behavior Therapy
(DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), CBT for psychosis (CBTp),
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Attachment,
Self-Regulation and Competency (ARC), and/or Parent-Child
Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Play Therapy.
- Completes training, consultation calls, and ongoing reporting
for the state of Tennessee (TDMHSA), as well as outreach and
promotion of the program with outside agencies.This job description

employment.1. Provides individual/family psycho-therapy for
children, youth and young adults ages 2-30.
- Clinician is present and ready to begin sessions at the
appointment time, every session.
- Clinician calls to reschedule any sessions that he/she will be
unable to attend or that the consumer missed/cancelled, 100% of the
time.2. Provides diagnostic psycho-social assessments/intakes.
- Clinician completes intakes and assessments within 5 business
days of contact.
- Assessments will be completed in coordination with Client
Benefits staff & other members of the Integrated Services Team, as
evidenced by communicating any issues concerning clients or the
assessment.
- Maintain consistent collaborative documentation with client
input, as appropriate.
- Participates in the initial individual program planning process
with all service providers (i.e., CM, SEES, CPRS, TL, and medical
staff) and provides ongoing information regarding client progress
to the service providers.3. Completes all documentation in
compliance with HRMC, CARF & program standards.
- Clinician completes weekly progress notes within allotted time
frame (5 business days).
- Clinician's progress notes and intake assessments will include
documentation to meet CARF standards.
- Clinician will complete Spence/CES-D/ECBI scales on 10% of
caseload for QA/QI indicators.
- Clinician will complete QRR, as requested, quarterly.
- Participates in the development of a crisis/safety plan for
priority clients.
- Update treatment plans, crisis plans, MIRECC GAF/DLA-20,
diagnoses and updated admissions signature page every 6 months.4.
Provides intake/therapy coverage when needed.
- Clinician will provide intake coverage, as directed by
supervisor.
- Clinician will provide therapy coverage in crisis situations.5.
Works to meet C&Y IST & OnTrack TN productivity standards.
- Clinician will average 80% of time in direct care each week (32
hours face to face with clients).
- Clinician will complete 100% of intakes that are present for
appointments.
- Clinician will complete monthly productivity reports by the 3rd
of the following month.6. Communicates with community
resources/referral sources.
- Clinician communicates accurate and thorough information to
outside agencies 100% of the time when clients need different or
more appropriate care that McNabb Center cannot provide.
- Will complete external referrals as needed.
- Clinician uses McNabb Center and HIPPA standards every time
communication is made with outside persons or agencies.7.
Demonstrates & maintains a positive work climate and contributes to
the overall effort of the program.
- Clinician demonstrates a consideration and concern for fellow
workers and their jobs.
- Clinician promotes harmonious relationships and attitudes by
openly communicating any concerns, keeping a positive attitude, and
helping others.
- Clinician accepts additional assignments and/or changes in
assignments or work with a positive attitude.8. This position
requires training and certification in and the ability to
adequately implement a variety of verbal de-escalation methods and
personal/client safety techniques.9. If licensed, signing the
non-licensed clinicians' treatment plans and being available for
clinical consult.COMPENSATION:
- Starting salary for this position is approximately $48,201 /yr
based on relevant experience and education.QUALIFICATIONS - OnTrack
TN/Knox C&Y Master's Level ClinicianExperience / Knowledge:
- One-year experience in a human services or related field
preferred.
- Experience working with children, youth, and/or young adults
preferred.
- Clinical staff members must possess reliable transportation, a
valid driver's license with an F endorsement OR the ability to
acquire an F endorsement on driver's license in order to transport
clients as needed.
- Transporting clients in a personal or Center vehicle is an
essential function of this position.Education / License:
- Master's degree in human services or related field with course
work or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human
development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and
drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, and
suicide.Physical/Emotional/Social - Skills/Abilities:
- Must be capable of assisting in utilizing nonviolent methods of
crisis intervention including therapeutic holding.
- Must have mental ability to exercise sound judgment under
pressure.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and effective
decision-making, ability to set and demonstrate appropriate
boundaries, ability to be an empathic listener, flexibility,
willingness, and adaptability to working with diverse
populations.
- Must also have the ability to communicate effectively and
possess good time management and organizational skills.
- This position requires training and certification in and the
ability to adequately implement a variety of verbal de-escalation
methods and personal/client safety techniques.
- An essential job function is a reliable, predictable 40 hours
