The Peer Recovery Specialist
Job Summary
The Hope United Peer Specialist/Recovery Coach serves as a member
of the multi-disciplinary team, providing support to assist
clients, family members and others impacted by substance use
disorder and overdose reversal.
This job description is not intended to be all inclusive; and

1. Daily Staff Duties.
Demonstrates non-judgmental support 1:1 with individuals and
families around overdose reversal.Offers support, education and/or
referral as needed depending on the stage of change the individual
or family is in and as needed for reducing stigma.Offers 1:1
counseling/ Recovery Coaching utilizing motivational
interviewing.Responds to emails, and voicemails within 1 business
days.Completes Staff Daily Duties assigned by supervisor before the
end of each shift.Follow Daily Schedule as assigned in the hospital
and community setting as required.
2. Complete all required documentation within designated time
frames.
Completes contact sheets daily.Keeps all private and/or
confidential information in secure location with a locked file
cabinet or in approved locked HRMC bags.Completes logs, screening,
follow up and other requested documentation accurately and on
time.Assists team leader with data, scores, measurements and other
information as appropriate with the goal of outcome reporting,
Quality Assurance measurement and stakeholder satisfaction.
3. Functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Must be punctual and maintain good attendance record.Maintains
healthy two-way communication with all internal and external
customers to effectively assist the people we serve.Demonstrates
willingness to promote a harmonious work environment by maintaining
a positive and professional working relationship with all tam
members, supervisors and other stakeholders.Communicates and
approaches conflict with a problem-solving approach seeking a
win/win outcome.Presents in a professional manner and adheres to
appropriate boundaries in each setting, acting as a positive
representative of the team, agency and community.
COMPENSATION:
Starting salary for this position is approximately $16.90 /hr based
on relevant experience and education.
QUALIFICATIONS - Peer Recovery Specialist
Experience / Education:
Must have experience as behavioral health services consumer and/or
Lived recovery experience. A bachelor's degree in a health-related
field of counseling, psychology, social work, or three years'
experience working with individuals with substance use disorders,
or co-occurring diagnoses preferred. Has or is willing to obtain
the State of Tennessee Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Training
and complete the following to be eligible for state certification:
Attend the 5-day training facilitated by State Certified Trainers.
Gain 75 hours of work or volunteer experience in Peer Recovery
servicesMust have coursework and/or experience and understanding in
the areas of cultural diversity, human development, and treatment
of substance use disorder, understanding of trauma-informed care,
suicide prevention, crisis intervention referral and knowledge of
overdose reversal.Experience working with special populations
including individuals with Co-occurring Disorders, substance use
disorders and mental health disorders. Computer experience is
helpful as timesheets, training modules and email are
computer-based. Experience working in a community or hospital
setting is preferred. Regular attendance is an essential job
function. Strong knowledge of community resources and referrals is
required. Must be able to share your experience, strength and hope
with those who have been revived from overdose in a hospital or
community setting. Must practice unconditional positive regard
toward persons who have experienced overdose reversal and their
families and significant others.
Physical/Emotional/Social - Skills/Abilities:
Exposure to biological hazards. Hearing of normal and soft tones.
Close eye work. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150
lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and
reaching. Regular attendance is an essential job function. Required
to be certified in CPR/First Aid and trained in Handle with Care
de-escalation techniques. (training provided)Valid driver
